Add text, pages and files

Put a short text on the course page, add a page with formatted content, or offer a document.

Besides SCORM packages, a course can hold three simple types of content. You add them with the buttons Text, Page and File in a section.

TypeWhat it isUse it for
TextA short text shown directly on the course page, between the activities.A welcome, an instruction or a heading within a section.
PageA separate page with formatted content. Learners open it from the course.Explanation that is too long for the course page.
FileA document, such as a PDF, that learners open or download.A cheat sheet, a handout or a form.

Add a Text

  1. In edit mode, click Text in the section.
  2. Title in course index (1) is optional. The title only appears in the course index, not on the course page. If you leave it empty, Linqur uses the first words of the text.
  3. Type the text under Text (2).
  4. Click Save and return to course (3).

Track that learners opened a Page or File

Open Completion conditions, choose Add requirements and tick View the activity. The Page or File then counts as complete as soon as the learner opens it.

The Completion conditions block with View the activity ticked

You can then use it as a condition for other content, for example: chapter 2 opens once the learner has read the page. See restrict access to sections and activities.

The same in all three forms

  • Restrict access: make the content available only under conditions. See restrict access to sections and activities.
  • Save and return to course: saves and takes you back to the course.
  • Back to course at the top of the form: leaves the form without saving.

In the course, the three items now sit in the section: the Text (1) directly on the page, the Page (2) and the File (3) as an activity with a Completion button.

Chapter 1 with the Text, the Page and the File

A Text, Page or File doesn’t send a grade to the gradebook. If the LMS needs a grade, see Grade-item.
