How to set up course and activity completion

Follow this step-by-step guide if you want to set up completion on your course, so your users can view progression, and you can track completion by your users.

1. Click on Courses in the side menu

2. Click on Manage content

3. Click on the pencil icon on the learning object

4. Click on Completion conditions

5. Select Add requirements

6. Check Require minimum score

If you have score (grade) set up on your SCORM package then you can set a minimum score for completion. If you have not you can choose any of the other options for completion.

7. Set the minimum score for completion

8. Click on Save and return to course

9. Repeat for the other learning objects

10. Click on Completion conditions

11. Select Add requirements

12. Check Require minimum score

13. Set the minimum score for completion

14. Click on Save and return to course

15. Click on Course completion

Now that we set up the completion for the learning objects we can set up completion for the course

16. Click on Condition: Activity completion

17. Click on Select all/none

Or select the learning objects needed to complete the course.

18. Click on Save changes

That’s it, now your users can see how they progress through the course, and you will be able to track which users finished the course successfully.

Completion is set on the learning objects in a course, so a course without content yet starts at adding a SCORM package. A minimum score only works when the package reports a grade, and the grading method behind that sits on the Grade tab in the SCORM settings. Whether that result also reaches your LMS depends on the tool: grade synchronisation and the option to hold the grade until the object is complete are both explained in the overview of LTI tool settings.
